1. What is a roof cricket?

A wedge of roof insulation in the tapered roof layout that is placed to support the roof membrane in low areas of the roof deck. The cricket layout fills valleys or low areas along parapet walls. Crickets aid directional water flow in an effort to eliminate ponds and extend the life of the roof.

2. What is the CrickEZ™ System?

An engineered modular system for installing Quicket® adjustable pre-cut roof crickets. Includes detailed installation drawings for adjusting cricket sizes without cutting.

3. Is CrickEZ ™ considered sustainable and environment friendly?

Yes. Advanced fabrication eliminates 30-50% material waste being shipped throughout the supply chain. Supply chain efficiency saves transportation fuel and warehouse space. Fabrication scrap stays at the plant for recycling and/or re-use avoiding dumpsters and trips to the landfill.

5. Why do some “pre-cut” crickets still produce job site waste?

Some “pre-cut” crickets are trimmed on one of the two sides that need cutting. The CrickEZ™ System uses Quicket®, pre-cut on all sides.

6. Why do I see ponds of water on some roofs that already have crickets?

Inadequate roof crickets that are long and narrow can actually create a larger pond. The Quicket® layout width to length ratio provides 25% better drainage than other pre-cut products.

7. Why eliminate ponds of water from staying on roofs?

A. Any roof covering, including quality membranes can experience holes that leak over time. One of the best protections for the contents within a building is a roof membrane that has slope. Most building codes require ¼ inch per foot slope at the membrane surface.

B. Many roof membrane warranties become void when water sits on the roof 48 hours. Ponds of water are a threat and small leaks can act big when exposed to standing water over time.

8. What roof membranes can be used with Quicket® products?

Most commercial membranes including EPDM, TPO, PVC, and BUR.

9. How do I order the right Quicket® size?

Use the CrickEZ ™ Sketch Pad to draw a bird’s eye view of the tapered roof layout. Measure and note the drain locations indicating distance from the walls and distance from drain to drain. Choose from the Quicket® Size Guide noting sizes on the CrickEZ ™ Order Form and RFQ.

10. No skin or facer with Quicket®, why not?

Approved roof insulation adhesives can bond directly to the insulation without a facer. Skins and facers may add additional unnecessary layers to the roof assembly.
